LEARNING IS FUN!
BeBook is a mobile library project for deprived children in Goa (India), a project of the charitable Tara Trust. We are in the process of building the library, which is headed by Diviya Kapur and located in Calangute at the bookshop Literati.
Right now, we deliver boxes of books to projects in Goa we cooperate with, on the long run, we will have a bus delivering books to children across Goa. BeBook is also organizing readings for our target group – deprived children with no access to good books. The library-project further interacts with the creative arts workshops that are organized by Tara Trust in orphanages, slum-schools and other spaces for deprived children. With the library-project and the interactive arts-workshops we want to give children the experience that reading and learning is fun.

We are a group of Goa-based volunteers, giving our time and expertise. Our mascot is the frog, which is called “bebok” in the regional language Konkani. Thus, our name BeBook was born. BeBook can be understood as an aid to education, incorporating local art forms like music, folk dances, craft and street theater as well as other concepts like health and hygiene, conservation, garbage and pollution. By endorsing another perspective of learning, BeBook will promote readership among children and give them access to multi-lingual books.
